Getting Started
Entrepreneurship Electives
The McIntire Entrepreneurship Minor requires students to take two courses to total 6 credits to complete the elective requirement. A pre-approved list of electives is located on the McIntire Entrepreneurship Minor Website https://www.commerce.virginia.edu/minors/entrepreneurship. Minor students can take pre-approved elective courses (as space allows) without approval through this site.
The purpose of this site is for students to apply for a potential elective course, not currently listed on the minor website, to be considered for inclusion for credit toward the student's minor elective requirement.
Submitting Courses
Through this site, students will submit courses to be considered for exception approval to fulfill the minor elective requirement. To submit a course, students must be prepared to provide the following information: 1) course number, 2) course name, 3) course syllabus, 4) number of credits assigned to the course, 5) institution (i.e. UVa or abroad university as applicable, and 6) explanation of why the course fits the minor elective requirements.
Course Approval
The Director of the Entrepreneurship Minor is the approving official for all elective exception requests. For a course to be considered for exception approval, the course must meet the following criteria: 1) The course must be directly related to entrepreneurship. 2) The course must be for graded credit. No courses taken for audit or CR/NC will be considered except the CR/NC options during the COVID-19 pandemic. 3) The course should not overlap significantly with the minor entry level required course, core required course, or capstone. The electives are meant to expand and enhance the students' entrepreneurship knowledge beyond the content of the minor's required courses.
