FAQs
How many electives can I take?
The Entrepreneurship Minor requires a minimum of 2 courses or 6 credits to satisfy the elective requirement. You may take additional electives if your schedule permits.
What if I don't enroll in a class I submitted for approval?
A student that gets approval for a course, but chooses not to take the course, will still be expected to complete the minor's elective requirements by selecting one of the pre-approved electives or getting approval through this site and completing another elective course to satisfy the requirement.
Can I take an elective abroad?
The site does allow students to submit for courses abroad to be considered for elective exception approval. It is highly recommended that students first discuss any abroad courses with their advisors in their School of Enrollment to insure that 1) the course will be accepted by their School of Enrollment and 2) the advisor confirms with the student how the number of credits for the course will convert from the abroad instititution to Uva's course credit system. Approval granted through this site only confirms that the course will count towards the minor's elective requirement(s) if the student completes the course and the course is approved by the student's School of Enrollment..
I got approval for a course, does that guarantee I can take the class?
No. For exception elective courses, it is the student's responsibility to work with the instructor of the exception course to insure they meet pre-requisites for the course, if there are any and there are available seats in the course for the student to enroll.
